Several major industrial incidents have alarm management issues in common, such as poorly designed alarms, improperly set alarm points, ineffective annunciation, unclear alarm messages, alarms being inhibited, operators not being able to recognize safety critical alarms in the midst of alarm floods, operators not responding to alarms at all. There are recommended industry practices in the development, implementation, and maintenance of an alarm management program from API, EEMUA, ISA etc. CCPS is seeking papers for submitted to this session will focus on techniques, methods, and nuances of applications, etc. for facilities.
