This session will feature four 45 minute-long presentations describing new and proposed environmental regulations of emissions and discharges to air, water and soil, as well as reviewing the current regulatory climate and its effect on sustainability initiatives. A description of processes designed for the mitigation of environmental impacts and reducing use of environmental resources will also be presented. The session will introduce engineers to these topics in a manner that will make evident the connection between industry, consulting, government, venture capitalists and academia's dialogue around environmental issues. The four topics sought include: one regulatory review to address legal impacts on sustainability initiatives, a second on sustainability metrics, a third on cleantech (focusing on innovative technologies) and a final talk on energy.
