Abstract

Today’s plants have increasing responsibility for improving reliability and safety standards within their respective area. As today's oil and gas industry continues to respond to the changing dynamics of a world economy, there is little argument that compressor reliability and uninterrupted operation are paramount and crucial to plant operation. Compressor sizes continue to increase, as do their cost, and spare compressors simply aren't an option. In the past, one means to improve reliability was the integration of dry gas seal technology.  But, the experience shows that the key to success in achieving optimum reliability is selection of the right dry gas seal and the latest control system technology as well as a commitment to training and commissioning/operational procedures. This paper will describe the use of today’s innovative sealing and system technology that allow you to easily and efficiently reduce refrigerant and crack gas compressors downtime.
