The development of Explosion proof High temperature Imaging Cameras which operate in Ethylene furnaces without cooling air now allows monitoring of ethylene furnaces to improve energy/operating efficiency along with providing important safety benefits. Imaging cameras work off the visual wavelength which provides 2 dimensional view and temperature measurement of the tube temperature which is more accurate then thermocouples and IR probes. In addition visual images of the furnace burners lets you detect flame detachment, smoking burners and flame shape in order to increase burner efficiency and save energy. The safety aspects of the Camera imaging systems is significant as it allows visual detection of pin hole leaks and tube failure in the furnaces.

We have submitted this abstract to Process Improvement and Safety as they both apply. We would only like to be considered for one area.
