Natural gas contains a slight level of carbon dioxide which leads to several industrial and domestic heating problems. In addition, it is one of main greenhouse gases that contribute for global warming, where its pollution is a wide-spread problem arising from a wide range of industries, leading to complex contaminant in atmosphere. Given the increasing pressures worldwide to minimize the emission of greenhouse gases into atmosphere, CO2 must be remediated efficiently and cost effectively.

In this short abstract a chemically treated limestone and alumino-silicate material were utilized for removal of CO2 from natural gas using a combined adsorption-chemical reaction processes.  This functionalized Ca-Al2O3-SiO2 material was characterized according to its crystalline phase, surface area, pore size distribution and surface morphology.  Then it was tested against different concentrations of CO2 in CO2-N2 gas streams.
