(79e) Pilot Plants in Transition

We, as chemical engineers, discuss pilot plant design, construction, operation, and management in great detail.  However, we seldom, if ever, discuss the pilot plant in transition: that is --- we never discuss moving pilot plants from one location to another location.

            This presentation discusses the reasons for moving a pilot plant, how to move a pilot plant safely and expeditiously, how to rebuild it and how to safely restart it.  This presentation also discusses designing pilot plants with the view that they may be moved at some future date.
