Chemical Process Equipment Design has remained an art for a long time. With the recent advances and convergence of enabling technologies such as advanced computations and simulations, advanced measurements and advanced manufacturing the ability to explore a large design space and design towards compact, energy efficient processes are possible. Through several examples of using computational and experimental fluid dynamics, this talk will explore the fundamental paradigm shift in the design process to enable process innovation.
