Abstract:
Flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) is well known in the metallurgical community and is properly dealt with in new installations. However, in older units that have enjoyed significant capacity creep, the potential for FAC may not be fully recognized. This paper will review the fundamentals behind FAC, including a failure on a high pressure condensate line, and review specific follow-up actions that can help predict and prevent this occurrence.
