(18b) PSM - Just a Job, or a Calling?

When you wake up and look in the mirror as you prepare for work, does anything special cross your mind?  Me, I look at my reflection and say to yourself, “I’m going to make a difference today; today may be the day I save a life.”  Being a process safety professional can be a demanding position.  However, for many of us in the field we speak of it as a calling; having a passion for what we do and sharing that with the personnel in the plants where we work. 

The objective of this paper is to provide a sense of passion that we experience to young professionals either starting out in or considering a career in process safety.  Through sharing elemental experiences of the PSM standard, the goal is to touch at least one young professional and have them feel that they have the calling as well.
