The second edition of Guidelines for Pressure Relief and Effluent Handling Systems will be issued later this year. It is the only book to comprehensively cover both design sizing of emergency relief devices and the systems to safely control the effluent after the relief device has activated. It also includes software for designers to size the emergency relief systems, plus worked examples to show how the software can be used for several design scenarios. It is the only book in this field that covers the topic of 2-Phase flow, based on the most up to date research and studies by the Design Institute for Emergency Relief Systems (DIERS). It is also the only book to cover in detail the safe control of the release after the relief device had activated. An overview of the book will be presented.
