The technology qualification process is usually winding road to commercialization. In this presentation, we will discuss Cameron’s experience in working with companies to qualify gas technology for their offshore and onshore commercial operations.
In last 30 years, we have commercialized over 18+ gas technologies and have gone through significant internal and external technology qualification steps starting from concept validation, bench scale testing, commercial approach validation, pilot testing, engineering, design and installation. The process can very significantly from onshore to offshore. We have seen widely different technology validation experience with technologies which are targeted for offshore technology mainly Cynara CO2 Membranes, MEG reclamation and Regeneration technology, High efficiency phase separation internals. The external technology validation process may vary, however there are several common aspects to this process are operational history in a similar environment, mean time between failures, cause and effect chart, mechanical and structural integrity, process variations, utility consumption, ongoing research and development and aftermarket support.
The technology validation process also requires integrating different Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and associated technology validation to align with parent technology. This is also important to identify, define and incorporate into overall technology validation strategy for the technology success. In this presentation, we will also cover several challenges and hurdles we faced with OEMs and their associated technology and how we overcome those risks via internal technology validation process.
