(71b) Bp's Process Safety Journey: Enhancing Risk Management in Global Upstream Operations

The learning from Deepwater Horizon and other high profile industry events has been used to enhance and accelerate process safety improvements in BP’s world-wide upstream operations.  The enhancements in drilling safety and emergency response capabilities have been shared globally and the entire industry has taken up the challenge.  This presentation focuses on the wider progress in further improving risk management and learning across upstream projects and operations.  This includes:

• Systematic common processes for identifying and managing risks
• Strategic improvement programmes applied globally
• Case studies of applications to individual projects and operations
• A comprehensive approach to improve learning to further accelerate risk management

The presentation shares both strategic approaches to global change and practical examples of application.
