Based on accident records, this paper analyzed the potential failure modes, failure causes and common accident types of atmospheric storage tanks as well as pressurized storage tanks. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Safety Checklist Analysis (SCA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) were integrated to be used to determine the indicator system and specific assessment indexes of tank farm comprehensive safety evaluation. Besides, the classification criterion of tank farm safety level was developed also. By using the evaluation method mentioned above, ranking of tank farm comprehensive safety level was achieved taking reality conditions of tank farm into consideration.
