A robust Process Safety Culture within an organization is as important as having a reliable process safety management system; it makes process safety a true part of the day-to-day operations. It develops trust and a sense of importance for process safety, allowing process safety management systems to be effective. The culture transcends the members of the organization, passing on to new members and enduring over time. Measurement of process safety culture is challenging as it cannot be measured by conventional means; process safety culture must be experienced through focused and frequent interactions with the workforce to identify improvement opportunities. Through these experiences, process safety culture can be improved to ensure the organization is not positioned for process safety failures. This session invites papers that highlight experiences with measuring process safety culture, and how they can be used to improve the overall process safety performance of organizations.
