Engro commissioned worlds largest single train ammonia urea complex in 2010 by using Snamprogetti technology. As per agreement with government 90 MMSCFD of high BTU (84 % methane) was suppose to be provided to this mammoth plant but to domestic power issues government could not do so and provided only 5 MMSCFD of this high BTU gas but at the same time a low BTU gas 90 MMSCFD (74 % methane) containing high CO2 content were allocated to this new plant. So there was challenge to operate this new plant on low BTU gas which is actually the blend two feed stocks. The commissioning team of Engro successfully operated plant at 105 % load with the help of some modifications.
