The main raw materials(such as propylene, hydrogen gas, syngas) in the butyl-octyl alcohol production process are of higher explosive and fire hazard. In order to ensure their safety, it is necessary to do safety hazard analysis of these plants. This thesis introduces the application of HAZOP study on some butyl-octyl alcohol plants. The analysis result of the feed gas tank, the waste liquid fuel tank, the syngas feed oxygen injection line and the butyl aldehyde liquid phase hydrogenation converter shows that HAZOP is propitious to identify hazard in this process. It is worth promoting the application.
