Matt McGinnis, an engineer for The Dow Chemical Company, discusses the day PSM hit home when a co-worker passed away 4-weeks after exposure to a hot chemical solution causing 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 70% of his body. Matt reflects on the department moral, the intense investigation, media attention and subsequent legal involvement that has opened his eyes to the importance of process safety in the chemical industry.
