OSHA’s GHS transition period is set to end in 2016. By June 1 of this year, OSHA expects millions of HazCom-covered employers to be in full compliance with its fourth and final GHS deadline. This means having an updated HazCom Program in place that accounts for the GHS changes OSHA implemented when it adopted the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System in 2012.

This might sound straightforward, but adoption delays by chemical manufacturers and suppliers, as well as recent OSHA memorandums and selective enforcement rules, compromised earlier deadlines, and for many, created confusion in the chemical supply chain. Additionally, enforcement statistics have shown that just complying with the basic tenets of OSHA’s HazCom Standard remains challenging for many employers.

In fact, the standard continues to rank #2 on OSHA’s most frequently cited standard list. Compliance is important for avoiding fines and maintaining a positive corporate reputation, but it’s probably most important for protecting employees from the increased injury and illness risks they face as a result of a compromised employer HazCom Program.

In this session, find out what it means to be in compliance with OSHA’s June 1, 2016 employer deadline, what OSHA’s general compliance expectations are, the common compliance challenges impacting EHS professionals and how to overcome them, and the actionable steps you can take to ensure compliance with OSHA’s fourth and final GHS deadline and beyond.
