Conversion of carbon dioxide through biochemical approach has been examined with growing interest for its higher reaction specificity and energy efficient. Compared with chemical carbon conversion, most biocatalytic carboxylation reactions reach much lower degree of conversion as limited by reaction equilibrium. The current work examines the thermodynamics limitation of the reaction catalyzed by isocitrate dehydrogenase and designs unique approach to break the limitation for high carbon conversion rate.
