Equation Oriented (EO) approach is a powerful tool that can be used for simulating complex flowsheets with many recycle streams and significant heat integration. EO approach has been successfully used for solving plant operational issues, evaluating plant revamps and developing conceptual process designs. The use of this approach will be illustrated for several industrial applications. These examples will show case different objectives: simulation, optimization, and data reconciliation.
