The Williams Company LNG facility on their Northwest Pipeline system located in the state of Washington experience an explosion March 30th 2014. The incident occurred during a routine start-up of the liquefaction process. Directly after the facility was deemed safe the site preservation process was initiated and the investigation began. The various regulatory agencies were involved during the investigation to help determine the cause and to provide recommendations to prevent like kind occurrences elsewhere within the industry. Additional 3rd party firms were called in to review potential structural deficiencies, design flaws, metallurgy testing, and auto ignition testing.
