The purpose of this session will be to introduce chemical engineers to potential ethical issues, and to allow more experienced engineers to share their stories. The discussion will be moderated, yet open to all audience questions. There will a short introduction by the session leader, followed by a panel discussion of a manager and an engineer who have varied experiences in difficult situations. While the intent of the session is primarily educational options towards solutions of real-life issues will be discussed. This session will delve into some typical ethical dilemmas faced by chemical engineers in business, and will offer suggestions on how to identify and to avoid issues that could lead to schedule and cost overruns. Both business and professional ethics will be covered.
