(211c) Quench Water Quality Challenges in Ethane Cracker

Quench Water system is a core loop in the processing of cracked gas prior separation train in the ethylene plant, the variety and nature of the contaminants founded in the circuit depends on the feedstock, the process condition at furnaces and the control of quench water tower temperature, all of this variables should be taken into account in order to operate it in a reliable way and maintain the operational continuity in good shape. This paper share the experience of Braskem Idesa 1050 kty ethane cracker quench water system problems and some solutions that improve the quality of the quench water, and maintain fouling and plugging controlled.
