(125c) Safeguard Meters within Chevron

Chevron has developed a framework for implementing the concept of “safeguard meter” within our operating assets. The meter(s) will display leading indicators related to key safeguards that prevent or mitigate incidents at Chevron facilities. These indicators may provide signals that a safeguard’s performance is deviating from accepted norms and require attention to remain reliable. Examples from several operating areas and the approach for deployment across the company will be shared and discussed.

The framework includes identification of the most important safeguards to be measured and addresses how assurance against established performance standards is measured and displayed.

The discussion will also address how leadership response and culture should be addressed in any deployment that provides visibility of real time leading performance indicators within an operating asset.
