  1. P. Prem

Abstract: Asset Integrity is one of the major concerns in the process industry. According to UK-HSE, asset integrity management refers to risk minimization in equipment, structures or systems in facilities with a potential for adverse consequences leading to catastrophic incidents. Regulatory bodies require the assets in facilities to be maintained evergreen to ensure safe operability. Although organizations have taken measures to ensure the integrity of mechanical equipment are maintained, the industry continues to battle with several challenges to have an evergreen asset integrity management program. In order to ensure a more confident asset integrity management to prevent potential process safety incidents, a holistic approach to equipment and structural integrity is essential. The paper will explore some challenges to asset integrity and provide a holistic framework including several other key OSHA-Process Safety Management elements for improving the effectiveness of mechanical integrity.
