To sustainable transformation journey and towards net zero emissions, accurate modelling of existing technology and the new design concepts will help in understanding the performance of these options and assist in taking decisions. Confident deployment of capital, allocation of limited financial and human resources, and efficient execution of complex projects for restructuring and re-alignment are equally important. By using process simulation it will be possible to map interconnected processes and energy systems down to the heater, boiler, compressor and any other relevant process equipment and it allows the emissions to be quantified, prioritized, monitored, and then eliminated using a range of solutions such as electrification, hydrogen firing, reduced flaring, etc..
In addition, a process digital twin, with a process simulation/production model at its core, is a powerful tool to help design, monitor, troubleshoot, optimize, forecast, and plan single unit and full asset performance. It provides underlying performance information, automates the collection and validation of data, and delivers the analysis through visualization and tailored reporting.
