Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility in Process Development

Process development activities in the chemical industry continue to evolve, with extended focus on sustainability and how it shapes innovation, from discovery of new molecules and materials, though development and design of manufacturing processes, to commercialization of new offerings. Even the recent COVID-19 pandemic has informed how teams collaborate and manage complex development programs in a more virtual world. The Chemours Company established recently its 2030 Corporate Responsibility Commitment, a set of ambitious goals designed to deliver both social and environmental impact over the next decade. Within this framework, examples will highlight the critical role that sustainability is having on the innovation process, with an aim to motivate the 2020 PDS participants to focus their efforts to develop more sustainable solutions.
