A Novel Zinc-Air battery Technology commercialization for Energy Storage application

Long-duration energy storage (LDES) technologies are advancing rapidly towards competitive deployment by enabling energy storage for extended demand periods with economic scalability. Zinc-air batteries have emerged as a promising candidate due to their high energy density, low cost, safety, and environmental friendliness. e-Zinc developed a breakthrough electrochemical technology for storing energy on-site through zinc-based battery systems. The system uses zinc metal as the energy carrier, providing high energy density at a lower cost. This solution offers flexible, long-duration energy storage for today’s low-carbon, dispatchable power needs and safety. This presentation discusses the topics of important factors in the scale-up and commercialization of the Zinc-air battery. We present different case studies to tackle scale-up challenges, such as optimizing of the re-circulation flow and synthesizing the electrolyte at the pilot scale.
