Sustainability in Modular Process Plants

Sustainability in the CPI typically focuses on making the process chemistry more benign, or using renewable sources of raw materials, or how products can be designed with recycling in mind. But what about the plant itself? What is being done to make the design, fabrication, installation, operation and eventual decommissioning of process plants more sustainable? This article will focus on modular process plants, and what work is underway to reduce the environmental footprint in their design and fabrication, offering a comparison to the traditional stick-built approach.
