Against the backdrop of growing global demand for energy and new energy legislation, AIChE and its members launched a series of initiatives that apply chemical engineering expertise to help develop solutions to energy problems and to address sustainability issues. In this presentation, the role of professional societies and individual engineers in addressing encompassing challenges such as energy and sustainability will be reviewed. This presentation will provide an overview of the energy and sustainability initiatives underway by the AIChE.
