Distillation and Separation
Thursday, October 6, 2011 - 1:40am to 2:05am
Today's energy conscious environment is focusing on ways to make Distillation as energy efficient as possible. Heat integration, vapor recompression, feed preheat, and pinch technology are all "buzz words" we have heard in the past on this topic. One area that has received a lot of attention in the past 10 years has been Divided Wall Columns (DWC). This type tower is where one can obtain three high purity products in a single distillation column. This presentation will talk about trayed tower experience that Sulzer has in this service, where it is applied and what design parameters need to be addressed with regards to designing trayed Divided Wall Columns.
