Human Reliability: The Next Evolution in Plant Performance

Process industries have made tremendous strides in improving the mechanical reliability of facilities in the last 20 years.  However, increasing advanced complexity and interdependency of systems have led to accidents not of failure of the automation system or plant equipment, but rather human error.  In many cases, the way in which data is managed and presented to plant personnel is what leads to an erroneous act.

The time has come to increase human reliability to minimize human error at the plant by optimizing the human/automation relationship.
