Micro-mixing plays a dominant role in determining the performance of polymerization reactors. The present talk will present a modeling framework for the treatment of micromixing in such reactors using probability density function (PDF) methods. A specific application example, namely an industrial high pressure LDPE tubular reactor, is presented to elucidate the framework. The talk will also present process analysis studies that were performed using the model.
