Process Simulator Basics – Let’s Build a Model!
David Hill, Chemstations
Do you know your way around process simulators? Perhaps you used one in college, maybe even a few times at your job—but if you’re like most engineers, you probably learned how to use the program on your own through trial and error. This workshop will discuss what a process simulator does and doesn’t do, and how to use its capabilities to enhance your own. Discussion will cover the basic concepts of simulation; the differences between real-world equipment and simulator models; decisions you need to make versus using system defaults; and best-practice advice for simulators. Portions of the workshop will be demonstrated using CHEMCAD, but the material presented applies to any process simulator—and perhaps even to models you build by hand.
