Electric process heating has been a reliable and efficient heat source for over one hundred years. Chemical processing facilities utilize a wide variety of process heating sources, including electric process heating. When decide which type of process heating source to utilize it is critical to consider the total cost involved with purchasing, installing, operating, and maintaining your process heating equipment.

This presentation highlights the benefits of utilizing electric process heating compared to traditional process heating sources. Advancements in medium voltage heating technology now allows electric process heating to be a viable heat source for large heat duty applications. Utilizing DirectConnect medium voltage technology (up to 7200V) reduces amp draw when compared to low voltage (480V). This reduction in amp draw drastically reduces the electrical installation costs. In specific applications, electric and fired heat sources can be utilized in tandem for optimal efficiency.

With the ever-growing demand to reduce on-site costs, electric process heating allows for a simple, efficient, and effective heat source to be quickly installed that requires limited maintenance. The final section of the presentation will include case studies highlighting the cost savings customer have experienced with electric process heating.
