Fractionation Research, Inc. (FRI) provides data to its membership via running a similar experiment when testing new devices or modifications to existing devices. FRI data allows members to better decide what devices to use in their existing columns and/or how to design a new column in an optimum manner. The objective of this paper is to explain to the audience how the data at FRI is obtained before it is converted into efficiency curves, performance diagrams, and correlations. An overview of the typical experimental procedure will be discussed.
