What responsible organization does not aim for continual improvement in their PSM program? Lack of resources, lack of commitment, or even conflicting priorities can be reasons cited for impediments to progress with regulatory compliance. However, for some organizations, such as those in the Hazardous Waste Industry (HWI), PSM success can be significantly affected by the needs of their customers.
This presentation will discuss how PSM programs are able to improve despite varying hazards. In particular, it will discuss how Hazardous Waste Facilities respond to challenges associated with the waste streams which they process. It will describe how the HWI remains poised to ‘hit a moving target’ by effectively managing non steady-state chemical and biological hazards while advancing PSM compliance. Although this talk will contain numerous examples specific to one industry, lessons learned will undoubtedly be applicable to any organization which must be flexible with the management of their PSM program.
