Long term planning is becoming more recognized as key to a successful overhaul event within the petrochemical industry due to the demand for shorter outage durations driven by ever-changing market conditions. Ethylene producers need to leverage every available opportunity in performing their routine machinery maintenance and scheduled overhauls to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Precision Procedure Planning of these outages helps identify and mitigate safety issues, lack of detail, inefficient methods, and mechanical risks to the equipment well in advance of the execution. MCO-I understands the complexities of these major overhauls and continues to advance the detailed planning process required to make these events a success. We break the planning process into two phases, reliability and efficiency upgrades and overhaul procedures.
When developing the proper plan, eighteen months of lead time is generally needed to ensure a successful outage. The first phase of planning is to evaluate all potential reliability and efficiency upgrades. The second phase defines work scope, recognizes risks, creates detailed procedures, inventories spare parts, and identifies special tooling requirements to execute a successful outage.
