The high activity in the Shale Gas Plays is having a profound effect on the chemical Industry in the U.S. and beyond.  This presentation provides a focus on ethylene and ethylene derivatives.  A number of ethylene steam crackers utilizing ethane as the feedstock have been announced in the U.S. with addition of polyethylene included in those project scopes.  With the advent of increased ethylene production as these projects come on line in the 2016 – 2017 timeframe various ethylene derivative plants will be constructed taking advantage of lower ethylene prices in the U.S.  This will increase exports of key products into the Global market from the U.S.  This presentation will highlight some of the key ethylene derivative technologies where high activity is likely.  The presentation will conclude with the importance of using Technology Selection as a Best Practice to ensure the best fit for a successful project and maximizing economic returns.
