ABSTRACT
In the past decade several LNG projects have been built and commissioned and many new projects are in construction and are scheduled to be on stream in the near future. However, due to the changing market conditions, politics, escalating equipment costs, scarcity of resources for owners, a few marginal projects continue to be evaluated for improved economics in the future.
This paper describes conceptual design strategies for improving total project design concepts for all areas from sub-sea, to offshore and onshore development. Strategies for improving project economics via design options, site selection, infrastructure considerations and economies of scale are summarized based on historical data from recent LNG projects.
