Anaerobic digestion of confined agricultural animals waste can lead the way to reduction in equivalent carbon dioxide emissions to pre 1980 levels. A general rule of thumb for ambient anaerobic digesters in northern areas of the US is that they do not work well north of interstate 70 in the summer and not at all in the winter. New two stage anaerobic digestion with internal heat recycle makes the systems function and profitable in the northern areas of the US as well as the south.
This paper will explain how new patented technology functions increases gas output, improves gas quality and rate.
