Cohesion & Adhesion I

The interaction between cohesive/adhesive particles is a challenging field in particle technology. This involves experimental techniques to measure contact adhesive and frictional forces, as well as theories that are derived to predict these forces. In the recent decades, particle simulations have become more and more advanced and hel nowadays to solve many problems, but they need the particle contact and adhesion/cohesion information to begin with. The modeling is getting even more challenging when a fluid phase is involved or when it concerns the mixing of different particle species in the presence of cohesion. Adhesive particles stick to each other easily and form granules or agglomerates, which are important for many industrial applications, handling, conveying/transport and storage of bot dry and wet particle systems. The purpose of this session is to bring together experts from different fields to bring forward our knowledge on cohesive particle systems.
