Recent advances in the ability to make engineered nanoparticles and incorporate them into a range of fibers, films, engineering plastics and electronic materials has given rise to many new product opportunities. Along with these product opportunities, potential EHS concerns have arisen in an atmosphere of regulatory uncertainty on dealing with these materials. Working with Environmental Defense Fund, the DuPont Company developed a Framework for guiding Product Stewardship of nanoparticles. Practical application of that Framework will be reviewed along with findings on needs and availability for Stewardship information.
