Contaminant Removal Using Membrane Distillation for Sustainable Drinking Water Treatment

This project uses an innovative technology for small water systems, including technologies that combine pollution prevention, water reuse and resource recovery, and have potential economic advantages with low capital, operations, and maintenance costs. The proposed pilot scale demonstrations will be instrumental to understanding the feasibility of incorporating this type of technology into Green Infrastructure-based systems of the future. When implemented, this technology has the potential to simplify treatment trains, necessary for small systems, to comply with multiple and competing drinking water regulations.
