Finding Greener Solvent Mixtures to Replace Solvent Mixtures Used in Manufacturing Processes

A sustainable practice by industry is to find and use solvent mixtures in manufacturing processes that are less abusive to the environment. By closely matching physical and chemical properties of solvent mixtures currently used by industry with greener solvent mixtures, it is possible to significantly reduce the environmental impact of these processes.There is solvent substitution software being developed for just this purpose. In this software package, extensive calculations are performed to search for and present the best solvent mixture substitutes. Once substitutes are successfully tested for performance, they can replace the abusive solvent mixtures.
