Improving Drinking Water Quality For Small Rural Communities In Missouri

This project is addressing drinking water issues for small rural communities in Missouri with an integrated approach to 1) identify triaholmethanes (THMs) and N-nitrosamines associated with elevated dissolved organic carbon and nitrogen (DOC/DON) in surface water supplies; 2) develop novel, cost-effective water treatment technologies that reduce health threats; and 3) transfer and implement such technologies (primarily improved activated carbon and enhanced solids contact for small drinking water treatment plants).
