Integration of Filtration and Advanced Oxidation: Development of a Membrane Liquid-Phase Plasma Reactor

This project is developing innovative water pretreatment system using ceramic membranes followed by electrical discharge plasma for degradation of various organic compounds. Integrating these two processes will provide an innovative and potentially superior method of removing groups of contaminants from water than conventional water treatment processes such as advanced oxidation. When fully developed, this technology will be scalable, robust, and require minimal chemical input which will be necessary as we begin to design future drinking and wastewater systems built around green infrastructure concepts and practices.
