Horizon Issues Facing Life Cycle Assessment - Understanding, Managing Tradeoffs and Creating Opportunities

As we look into the future of sustainable packaging we have to think beyond what is popular in the media today and truly look at the system drivers of packaging; the materials used; the resources consumed and the core function of the packaging itself.  One key to the future of packaging will be demand.  As we ramp up to 9 billion people on the planet, demand for resources will cause all packaging materials to be stretch to their limits.  This talk will discuss these drivers and trends likely to emerge including but not limited to biobased materials, recycling and reuse.  Access to cash as well as constraints on carbon and water will service as key drivers of sustainable materials.
