A more than 80% drop in gasoline margins since the end of the summer driving season is squeezing US refiners' profitability as they ramp up production of diesel, jet fuel and heating oil to replenish stockpiles ahead of winter. On the bright side, lower costs for renewable identification numbers have provided some relief.
