
Microbots deliver chemo to lung cancer cells

Microscopic robots comprising nanoparticles attached to the surface of green algae cells delivered chemotherapy drugs directly to metastatic melanoma tumors in the lungs of lab animals, researchers reported in Science Advances. The nanoparticles were made of biodegradable polymer spheres filled with doxorubicin and then coated with red blood cell membranes to camouflage them from the immune system.
